Check the clock at the top left: it counts weekdays, and each color brings a character. Purple, Bishop. Red, Ms. Charm. Orange, Merchant. Green, Snake. Dark red, Inquisitor. Blue, Astrologer.
Look for each character only on the day of their color. When they show up, do all of their quests in one go.
Quests overlap: one character sends you to talk to another. If a quest asks for something you don't know how to do yet, leave it for later.

Not every quest is for right now.
Start the tutorial by digging up Gerry. He teaches the basics, so skip through the long dialogues until the next action.
When the donkey drops off the first body, take it to the morgue and extract the flesh.
On the body, aim for as many white skulls as possible: white is a good part, red is a bad part. At first you can only extract flesh.
At the graveyard blueprint desk, create an empty grave and place it in a corner. Dig the hole, bury the body, and get a burial certificate, which is worth money.
Talk to the Bishop. The goal is to raise the graveyard rating to 5: white skulls and nice graves add points, dirt and red skulls subtract them.
B
Binoguio says:
The graveyard starts far from that goal.
Read or skip through all the dialogues, because they can open new quests or complete others.
Pick up the tools stored in the graveyard and follow the cleaning tutorial. Items marked with a negative value lower the graveyard rating, and cleaning them raises it.
Keep heading right until you reach the village. The road is long, but a teleport will make it easier later.
At The Dead Horse tavern, the game's main shop, talk to Horadric and then to Miss Chain. A character with a speech bubble has a quest or something new to say.
Accept Horadric's quests, but leave the royal stamp request for much later. Take his letter to Krezvold the Blacksmith, following the road downward.
With Krezvold, grab the sword and the whetstone. Kill the green slimes with the space bar; the whetstone restores the durability of weapons and tools.
Hand the green jellies to Krezvold and get the first simple iron parts. Spend them carefully, because they matter a lot early on.
B
Binoguio says:
Every part is worth more than it looks.
Go back to the tavern and tell Horadric the slimes have been killed. He hands over a beer, which Gerry asked for in a quest.
Sell the burial certificate to Horadric. Each trade with a vendor raises their level and unlocks new items to buy.
Head home, going all the way left. Around the map, pick up berries, apples, and mushrooms from the ground: they become food and give energy.
Drag food from the inventory to the hotbar and use keys 1 to 4 to eat. You can eat in the middle of another action.
Enter the house and go down to the cellar. Clear what's in the way, break what you can, and grab the resources that show up.
Store items in the cellar chest. Open the menu with Tab to learn recipes: baked mushrooms and baked apples.
Snake shows up on the green day and wants to get through a door, but the way is blocked. You don't know how to clear the path yet, so leave it for later.
Collecting resources earns you colored technology points: red is hand-crafting skill, green is knowledge of nature, and blue is spiritual knowledge. You can't get blue yet. Spend only on what you'll use.
B
Binoguio says:
Points spent without a plan tend to be missed.
Open the menu and get to know the tabs: map, known characters with their quests, and technologies by area, such as Anatomy and Alchemy, Theology, Farming and Nature, Smithing, and Building. The map doesn't show where you are.
In the house area, clear wooden sticks and small stones to make room. You can only build on the marked squares, so plan where each machine will go.
Don't build a chest yet: you don't know how to craft simple iron parts, and you'll need them for machines.
In the technologies, spend red and green points to unlock Sawing and be able to make planks.
Build the sawhorse with the wooden sticks from the cleanup. On it, make wood billets and planks: three logs yield six planks. If an item doesn't show up, check the other tabs.
Chop the small trees to get logs; the big ones aren't possible yet. Then always pull out the stump, or the tree won't grow back.
To move several items at once, drop them on the ground and push them in a line, since you carry one at a time.
B
Binoguio says:
Single file works for items too.
Break stones scattered around the map, starting with the ones at the top, until you have enough for the Furnace, about 12 to 15.
Build the Furnace in a free corner of the house area. Press R to rotate the object before placing it.
When your energy runs out, sleep to save: that's the only way the game saves. There's no time limit, but staying up too long makes energy drain faster.
The next day, orange, talk to Yorick, who teaches how to dig up bad bodies and gives an exhumation permission. It can also be bought at the church mailbox.
Pick a body with more red skulls than white, remove the cross and everything on it, and dig it up using the permission.
Take the body to the river and throw it in: there's no penalty in the game. Burning bodies requires a skill you haven't unlocked yet.
In the Smithing technologies, spend red points on Primitive Forging to be able to build the wooden anvil, which makes nails and simple iron parts.
Make wood billets and build the wooden anvil next to the Furnace, using the space well. It needs a simple iron part; if you don't have one, buy one from Krezvold.
The Swamp bridge, left of the house, needs nails and flitches you can't make yet. Get iron ore from the top of the house: it doesn't respawn. Watch out for bats and slimes.
B
Binoguio says:
Iron that doesn't respawn deserves respect.
Put 10 wooden sticks in the Furnace as fuel to get 20. One iron needs at least 25, so add more until you reach 40, put in the ore, choose iron ingot, and wait.
In the Building technologies, unlock Firewood. Make five wood billets, build the chopping spot in a corner, and produce firewood, a better fuel than wooden sticks.
Give the beer to Gerry to raise your friendship and ask how to get home. He mentions the Witch Hill portal, an end-game quest, and tells you to talk to the Astrologer.
The Astrologer only shows up on the blue day, at the lighthouse, at the end of the map. He'll ask for wine, which you can only deliver much later.
B
Binoguio says:
Wrong day, empty lighthouse.
Consider leaving the graveyard cleanup for later: the donkey that brings the bodies starts charging once you tidy it up. Prioritize building machines first.
Make firewood in bulk: chop trees into logs, then turn the logs into firewood. Put as much firewood as possible in the Furnace and make as much iron as you can, for nails and simple iron parts.
On the dark red day, the Inquisitor is at Witch Hill. You don't need to talk to him yet; focus on the blue day.
When a new body arrives, drop everything and take it to the morgue: its durability drops over time.
B
Binoguio says:
A new body doesn't wait.
Unlock blood and fat extraction. Each swaps a red skull for a white one, but there's a risk of a surgical error. Very bad body: remove everything and throw it in the river.
Bury the good body in the grave that was left empty and get another burial certificate.
Take the certificate to Horadric, who can be visited at any time, and sell it.
Buy the teleport stone, the fast travel item. Right-click it to use it and choose a destination: at first, only your house and Horadric's shop.
On the blue day, go to the lighthouse: leave Horadric's shop, go up the road, and keep as far right as you can. Where the bridge blocks you, go back and take the lower road.
Talk to the Astrologer, who asks for a skull. To take one from a new body, unlock the Hardspares technology.
With the lighthouse unlocked as a destination, use the teleport stone to go home and sleep to save.
